Key Responsibilities and Duties1. System Design and EngineeringDesign & Modeling: Create detailed engineering designs, layouts, and schematics for solar energy systems (residential, commercial, or utility-scale) using specialized software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope).Component Selection: Select optimal system components, including PV modules, inverters, racking/mounting systems, and battery storage solutions, based on project specifications and performance goals.Electrical Design: Develop electrical plans, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), wire sizing, grounding specifications, and connection diagrams, ensuring compliance with codes like the NEC (National Electrical Code).Performance Optimization: Conduct computer simulations and performance modeling to estimate annual energy yield, optimize array configuration (tilt, azimuth, spacing), and ensure energy production guarantees are met.2. Project Assessment and AnalysisSite Assessment: Perform or coordinate detailed engineering site audits to collect necessary data on solar irradiance, shading, structural integrity (for rooftops), geotechnical conditions (for ground mounts), and existing electrical infrastructure.Feasibility Studies: Conduct technical and financial feasibility studies, including cost-benefit analysis, payback period calculations, and risk assessment for potential projects.Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and documentation required for permitting, procurement, construction, and client handover.3. Compliance and Project SupportRegulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs and specifications comply with relevant local building codes, electrical standards, interconnection requirements, and environmental regulations.Technical Support: Provide expert technical direction and support to the Project Management, Procurement, and Installation/Construction teams during all project phases.Commissioning & Testing: Oversee system testing, commissioning, and handover to the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team, verifying that the installed system meets design specifications and performance metrics.R&D: Stay current with advancements in solar technology, equipment, and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
