1. Keyword researchKnowing everything about keyword research is desirable to execute an SEO campaign successfully. Keyword research is the process of identifying long and short-form keywords to use on a company's website, blog posts, and social media posts to achieve a higher ranking on search engines. In addition, knowledge of search engine algorithms and search intent is helpful. Often, you might rank for less competitive but high-intent keywords for a higher website conversion rate.2. Communication skillsAn SEO professional requires strong verbal and written communication skills to excel. These professionals might require verbal communication skills to educate clients and explain complex SEO topics. This skill helps present technical information in a way non-SEO people can easily understand. As you collaborate with content marketers, you require written communication skills to create SEO-friendly content. Though you don't write the content, you use written communication skills for writing emails and reports.Related: Communication Skills: Definitions and Examples3. Social media efficiencyEmployers often prefer candidates proficient in social media because several businesses use multiple social media platforms. Using their skills, SEO professionals help businesses create campaigns that drive traffic from these platforms. Typically, you collaborate with social media marketers to identify how to target specific keywords on social media platforms. While search engines don't display social media posts in the search results, comments and mentions on these platforms increase traffic and backlinking. This helps in enhancing the business's search ranking.4. Link-building strategyA part of an SEO professional's job involves creating backlinks. Typically, a backlink is an incoming hyperlink from one website to another. These backlinks help search engines rank content for specific keywords.
