Department: NursingDesignation: Nursing SuperintendentReports To: Medical DirectorLocation: HospitalJob PurposeTo manage, supervise, and coordinate all nursing services of the hospital, ensuring high-quality patient care, effective staffing, discipline, compliance with hospital policies, and adherence to clinical and safety standards.Key Responsibilities1. Nursing Administrationo Supervise and coordinate the overall functioning of the nursing department.o Ensure adequate nursing staff deployment in all wards, ICU, emergency, OT, and other clinical areas.o Prepare and monitor duty rosters and staff allocation.o Ensure proper handover and shift management.2. Patient Care & Clinical Standardso Ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.o Monitor compliance with nursing procedures, clinical protocols, infection-control practices, and patient-safety standards.o Conduct regular rounds and inspect nursing areas for compliance and cleanliness.o Ensure proper maintenance of nursing records and documentation.3. Staff Managemento Monitor attendance, punctuality, discipline, grooming, and dress code of nursing staff.o Address staff grievances and performance-related issues.o Coordinate orientation and training programs for nursing staff.o Identify training needs and ensure mandatory training is completed.4. Quality & Complianceo Ensure compliance with hospital policies, statutory requirements, and applicable accreditation standards.o Support quality audits, inspections, and accreditation activities.o Ensure proper reporting and documentation of incidents, complaints, and adverse events.o Promote infection prevention and patient-safety practices.5. Coordinationo Coordinate with doctors, hospital administration, HR, pharmacy, laboratory, billing, housekeeping, and other departments.o Ensure effective communication between nursing staff and other departments.o Escalate critical patient-care or operational issues to the concerned authority.6. Inventory & Equipmento Ensure availability and proper use of nursing supplies, medicines, equipment, and emergency items.o Monitor stock levels and coordinate timely requisition and replacement.o Ensure proper maintenance and safe handling of nursing equipment.7. Training & Developmento Organize and monitor regular training sessions, including BLS, ACLS, infection control, emergency procedures, and nursing skills.o Encourage continuous professional development of nursing staff.8.
