Head EngineeringJob description Must be involved in all Techno commercial functions of EPC Business Overall Planning, Monitoring & Control of EPC Project. To supervise the Piping & Structural Design, Engineering, Fabrication, Procurement services support for various static & rotary equipment, piping system, valves and specialties. Participating various negotiations with vendors & sub-contractors. Review & maintain Project Quality system as per codes & standards. Billing & Payment follow up till closer of the contract. Attending various review meeting with Top Management & Client Review & Finalization of various Works Contracts for construction. Member of Quality Management System for organization. Well conversant with relevant international codes and standards and familiar with industry design standards, Project Engineering, Coordination and Engineering coordinator role. Schedule, monitor, control and report discipline progress to project management team on predetermined intervals. Liaison with other disciplines, client technical authorities and vendors as required to resolve issues and constraints to ensure client satisfaction. Analyse requirements of project scope, identify resources, requirements, plan forecast dates and manage the budget. Preparation / review of piping engineering and design documents viz. scope of work, piping design basis, specifications, data sheets, calculations, schedules. ResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibilities Design and develop heavy mechanical sub-assemblies for drilling equipment including welded structures, machined components and sheet metal assemblies. Develop engineering design concepts based on functional requirements, take full ownership of assigned tasks from concept refinement through detailed design, validation to production-ready-design using SolidWorks. Perform preliminary structural validation using hand calculations and SolidWorks simulation. Co-ordinate with FEA team for detailed analysis. Ensure design complies with US engineering standards (ASME, AWS, ANSI) and manufacturing practices. Provide engineering support to manufacturing and resolve design-related production issues. Take complete accountability of technical decisions, timelines and deliverables within assigned scope. Experience supporting full product development from concept through manufacturing releaseand production support. Identify and implement design improvements to enhance structural performance, reliability andmanufacturability. Collaborate directly with US engineering leadership and cross-functional teams with minimal upstream dependency.Secondary responsibilities Develop clear, shop-floor ready drawings with proper dimensioning & tolerancing, with welding specifications, GD&T and assembly clarity. Manage drawing release, revision control in PLM system and technical documentation. Support prototype development and validation to ensure design performance and integrity. Select and evaluate materials, manufacturing methods and design solution based onperformance, cost and manufacturability. Review and check drawings created by other engineers to ensure accuracy, manufacturability andcompliance with design standards.Education Minimum bachelors degree in mechanical engineering.Technical Skills Mandatory Strong foundation in Machine & Structural Design, Strength of Materials, Applied Mechanics &Finite Element Method. Proven experience designing welded structures and heavy load bearing mechanical assemblies (e.g. Drill Mast, Mast Base, Top Drive). Ability to perform independent engineering calculations using engineering principles. Strong proficiency in SolidWorks / similar softwares (3D modelling, manufacturing drawings and simulation).Desirable Experience working with imperial units, material standards and hardware selection. Experience of designing and selecting power transmission systems (gear boxes, drives, shafts, bearings). Knowledge of hydraulic systems, cast component manufacture and mechanism design(kinematics). Familiarity with drilling equipments and related machines would be ideal.Experience Minimum 8 years of Mechanical design experience, preferably in heavy engineering equipment, industrial machinery or structural equipment. Proven ability to independently work in an ambiguous environment and release complex mechanical assemblies. Demonstrated experience working with minimal supervision and technical ownership.Soft Skills Strong engineering judgement and problem-solving capability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Strong eagerness to learn and take on more responsibilities. High attention to detail and execution discipline. Ensure the design team and junior designers are producing quality work. Conceptualize original and unique designs and illustrations. Choose the right images, typography, graphics and layouts for the project. Ensure the products created are user-friendly and convey brand consistency with all projects.
