A desktop support engineer is responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software. Additionally, Desktop Support Engineers may document processes and create user guides to enhance user experience.

Key Responsibilities and Projects:Creating Technical Drawings: Using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (like AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Civil 3D) to produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings.Civil Engineering Projects: Their work covers a wide range of infrastructure, including:Highways and roadsBridges and overpassesPipelines, water, and sewage systemsDams and flood-control projectsSite layouts for buildings and developmentsTopographical Maps: Drawing topographical and relief maps to show the terrain and existing site conditions.Specifications: Specifying dimensions, materials, and procedures for construction.Collaboration: Working closely with civil engineers, architects, and surveyors to ensure the plans are accurate, comply with building codes, and meet project requirements.Typical Qualifications:Education: Often requires an Associate's degree in Drafting Technology, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), or a related engineering field, or a vocational certificate/diploma from a technical institute (ITI in some countries).Skills:Proficiency in CAD software is essential.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Understanding of civil engineering principles and construction practices.Ability to interpret rough sketches, notes, and specifications from engineers.
