Specialize in a particular area, such as architectural, civil, electrical, or mechanical drafting. Collaborate with other professionals, such as architects and engineers, to adjust plans and ensure designs are efficient and cost-effective. Draftsmen will also be involved in other tasks, such as: Prepares preliminary sketches, working drawings and detailed specifications for an architect. Meeting with clients and construction professionals Preparing both rough sketches and detailed work with CADD systems Estimating material costs Working to specifications, budgets, and timelines Supervising engineering works Working within regulations and contract provisions Supervising repairs and maintenance Inspecting prototypes and final products
