An Aircraft Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing aircraft systems and components to ensure aircraft airworthiness, safety, and compliance with aviation regulations. The technician performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on aircraft structures, engines, avionics, hydraulic systems, and other critical equipment.Key ResponsibilitiesAircraft Inspection & MaintenancePerform routine, preventive, and scheduled maintenance on aircraft.Conduct pre-flight, transit, daily, weekly, and periodic inspections.Inspect aircraft structures, engines, landing gear, and mechanical systems.Ensure aircraft meet safety and airworthiness standards.Identify defects, wear, corrosion, or damage.Troubleshooting & RepairsDiagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.Repair or replace defective aircraft components.Troubleshoot aircraft systems using technical manuals and diagnostic equipment.Perform corrective maintenance and emergency repairs.Aircraft Systems MaintenanceMaintain aircraft engines and propulsion systems.Service hydraulic, fuel, pneumatic, and environmental control systems.Inspect and maintain landing gear and braking systems.Assist in avionics and electrical system maintenance.Perform lubrication and component servicing.Documentation & ComplianceRecord maintenance activities accurately in maintenance logs.Complete work orders, inspection reports, and service records.Ensure compliance with DGCA, FAA, EASA, and airline maintenance standards.Follow aircraft maintenance manuals and engineering procedures.Safety & Quality AssuranceFollow aviation safety regulations and company SOPs.Maintain a clean and organized work environment.Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately.Participate in safety audits and quality inspections.Report safety hazards and maintenance irregularities.Ground Support OperationsOperate aircraft servicing equipment and tools.Assist in aircraft towing and hangar operations.Coordinate with engineers, technicians, and flight operations staff.Support aircraft turnaround activities when required.Required SkillsAircraft maintenance and inspection knowledge.Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.Knowledge of aircraft systems and components.Ability to read technical manuals and engineering drawings.Familiarity with aviation regulations and safety procedures.Problem-solving and analytical skills.Teamwork and communication abilities.Attention to detail and accuracy.Computer literacy and maintenance software knowledge.Educational QualificationsEssentialDiploma or Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.PreferredDGCA-approved AME course.Aircraft Type Training Certification.Aviation maintenance certifications.Experience RequirementsFresherBasic knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures.Practical training or apprenticeship experience preferred.Experienced1-5+ years of aircraft maintenance experience.Experience on commercial, cargo, or private aircraft.Knowledge of aircraft maintenance documentation systems.Working ConditionsAirport, hangar, workshop, and maintenance facilities.Rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.Exposure to aircraft noise and outdoor weather conditions.Physical work involving lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.Salary Range (India)Fresher: 25,000 - 30,000 per month1-3 Years Experience: 30,000 - 50,000 per month3-5 Years Experience: 50,000 - 80,000 per monthLicensed/Highly Skilled Technicians: 80,000+ per month
