The enhancement of intellectual performance has been one of the more enduring and yet elusive goals of mankind. It has been the source of numerous heated debates over the nature of human intelligence, such as whether our intelligence is amenable to improvement. Many but not all of these models of intellectual performance are illustrated in Table 1.
