Evaluate and advise patients on the risk involved with having surgeryPerform surgical procedures to prevent or correct injury, disease, deformities and patient function while adhering to regulatory and ethical protocolsFollow established surgical techniques during surgeryPrescribe preoperative and postoperative treatment and proceduresEnsure sterility in the operating room, and all equipment and instrumentsDirect and coordinate activities of hospital staff for proper patient careOversee all treatment prior to and post-surgery, and identify associated risksMaintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Associations Bill of Rights for patientsPlan and execute disease/illness prevention and health promotion programs

The key roles of an O&G consultant encompass clinical skills and decision-making, team leadership, education and supervision, risk management, innovation and patient advocacy.

Analyze medical images to diagnose and monitor diseases, interpret test results, and communicate findings to other healthcare professionals. Perform interventional procedures using imaging guidance, such as biopsies or drain placements.
