As a Mainframe Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our mainframe systems. Your expertise will ensure that our operations run smoothly and efficiently.**Key Responsibilities:**- **System Maintenance:** Regularly monitor and maintain mainframe systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime, troubleshooting any issues that arise.- **Software Development:** Collaborate with teams to design, develop, and implement applications or modifications on mainframe environments, ensuring they meet business requirements.- **Data Management:** Manage and secure data within the mainframe systems, including backup and recovery processes to protect against data loss.- **Performance Tuning:** Analyze system performance and make adjustments as necessary to improve efficiency and responsiveness.- **Documentation:** Create and maintain detailed documentation for system processes, configurations, and changes to facilitate knowledge sharing and compliance.- **Support and Training:** Provide support to users and train them on mainframe applications, ensuring they understand functionality and best practices.**Required Skills and Expectations:**Candidates should have 4 to 10 years of experience in mainframe environments, demonstrating strong technical knowledge of relevant programming languages, such as COBOL or PL/I. Proficiency in database management systems and familiarity with tools like JCL, CICS, and VSAM is essential. You should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage projects effectively. Excellent communication skills are necessary for collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing user support.
