As an Academic Counsellor, you will play a vital role in guiding students through their educational journeys and helping them achieve their academic goals. Your main responsibilities will include:- **Student Guidance**: Offer personalized advice to students on course selection, academic programs, and career paths that align with their interests and aspirations.- **Assessment of Needs**: Evaluate the educational needs of students through discussions and assessments, allowing for tailored support based on individual circumstances and goals.- **Academic Support**: Provide ongoing support to students by addressing their academic challenges, recommending resources, and connecting them with tutors or mentoring programs as needed.- **Parent Interaction**: Communicate with parents to discuss their childs academic progress and concerns, ensuring they are informed and engaged in their childs education.- **Career Counseling**: Help students understand potential career options, job market trends, and skills required for various professions, preparing them for future employment.- **Record Keeping**: Maintain accurate records of student interactions, progress, and follow-up actions to ensure effective support and intervention strategies.To succeed in this role, you should have a background in education or counseling, possessing strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students and their families. You should be empathetic, patient, and able to work independently while managing multiple tasks. A strong understanding of academic programs and career pathways will enhance your ability to guide students effectively. Experience in a similar role or working with youth is highly preferred.
