Patient care: Providing direct care to patients, including bathing, feeding, and personal hygiene Medication administration: Administering medications, injections, and other treatments based on a patient's condition and symptoms Medical procedures: Assisting with medical procedures, such as intravenous infusions, chemical tests, and preparing for and clearing up after procedures Patient records: Maintaining patient records, including recording vital signs and drugs administered Patient care coordination: Coordinating patient care with other health care professionals Patient education: Providing health promotion, counseling, and education to patients and their families Emotional support: Addressing the emotional needs of patients and their families Supervisory duties: Supervising nursing assistants and aides Unit management: Managing units such as the labor room, ICU, or burns units Staff orientation: Helping to orient new staff and students
