Roles and Responsibilities:Comprehensive Eye Examinations:Perform detailed eye exams to assess visual health, refractive errors, and diagnose ocular diseases or abnormalities.Use specialized equipment (e.g., phoropters, slit-lamps, retinoscopes) to measure vision and detect conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.Prescription of Glasses and Contact Lenses:Determine the correct prescription for eyeglasses and contact lenses based on the patients visual needs.Provide advice on the best optical solutions for various visual impairments.Pre- and Post-Operative Care:Work with ophthalmologists to assist in pre-operative and post-operative assessments for patients undergoing eye surgeries such as cataract surgery, LASIK, or retinal surgeries.Monitor patient recovery, provide post-operative care advice, and follow-up consultations.Diagnosis and Treatment of Eye Conditions:Identify and manage conditions such as dry eyes, eye infections, and allergies.Prescribe medications such as eye drops or ointments as needed.Refer patients to ophthalmologists or specialists for more advanced treatments if necessary.Patient Education:Educate patients on proper eye care, visual hygiene, and preventive practices to maintain optimal eye health.Provide guidance on managing chronic conditions like diabetes or hypertension that could affect vision.Collaborative Care:Work in collaboration with ophthalmologists, opticians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the patient receives comprehensive and quality eye care.Participate in patient case discussions and interdisciplinary meetings to coordinate treatment plans.Maintenance of Medical Records:Keep accurate and detailed patient records including visual health history, treatments provided, and any changes in eye conditions.Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and confidentiality practices.Clinical Research and Development:Stay updated with the latest development

This is an excellent opportunity for an ophthalmologist looking to work in a dynamic, patient-focused environment.Key Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive eye examinations and provide diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of ophthalmic conditions.Conduct surgical procedures, including cataract, glaucoma, LASIK, retina surgeries, etc.Prescribe corrective lenses and other treatments as required.Collaborate with a team of skilled professionals, including optometrists, nurses, and other specialists.Maintain detailed patient records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and protocols.Participate in continuous medical education and training programs.Offer expert opinions and second opinions on complex cases.Provide post-operative care and manage patient follow-ups.Qualifications & Experience:Medical Degree (MD/MS/DNB) in Ophthalmology.Valid registration with the State Medical Council/MCI.Minimum 3 years of experience as a Consultant Ophthalmologist, with proficiency in diagnostic and surgical techniques.Specialization in areas such as Cataract, Glaucoma, Cornea, Retina, or LASIK (Cataract surgery mandatory).Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.Passion for patient care with a compassionate approach.

Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis:Conducting thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity and screen for eye diseases.Diagnosing various eye conditions such as refractive errors, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, etc.Utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques such as slit-lamp biomicroscopy, fundoscopy, tonometry, visual field testing, and optical coherence tomography (OCT) to aid in diagnosis.Medical Management:Prescribing medications for the treatment of eye diseases, including antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, glaucoma medications, and topical steroids.Providing non-surgical treatments for conditions such as dry eye syndrome, allergic conjunctivitis, and uveitis.Surgical Interventions:Performing various surgical procedures to address vision problems and eye diseases, including cataract surgery, refractive surgery (e.g., LASIK), glaucoma surgery, retinal detachment repair, and corneal transplantation.Ensuring patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes through meticulous pre-operative evaluation, surgical planning, and post-operative care.Emergency Care:Managing ocular emergencies such as traumatic eye injuries, chemical burns, acute angle-closure glaucoma, and retinal detachments.Providing timely intervention and appropriate treatment to prevent vision loss and complications.Patient Education and Counseling:Educating patients about their eye conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures to maintain ocular health.Offering guidance on lifestyle modifications, proper eye care practices, and compliance with treatment regimens.Collaboration and Referral:Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including optometrists, general practitioners, endocrinologists, and pediatricians, to ensure comprehensive patient care.Referring patients to subspecialists or tertiary care centers for advanced evaluation and management when necessary.
