STP Operator

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled STP Operator responsible for the operation, monitoring, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of building/facility equipment and the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). The candidate should have good knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pumps, motors, and STP operations.

Key Responsibilities

STP Operation

Operate and monitor the Sewage Treatment Plant as per prescribed operating procedures.

Monitor pumps, blowers, aeration systems, dosing systems, filters, and other STP equipment.

Check and maintain parameters such as pH, TSS, MLSS, DO, and chlorine, as applicable.

Ensure proper aeration, sludge circulation, chemical dosing, and treated-water quality.

Conduct regular inspections of tanks, pipelines, pumps, valves, and treatment equipment.

Maintain daily STP operation logs and chemical consumption records.

Monitor sludge handling, dewatering, and disposal activities.

Identify abnormal conditions and take corrective action or escalate to the supervisor.

Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness around the STP area.

Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and statutory requirements.

Required Skills

Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance.

Good understanding of pumps, motors, valves, pipelines, and control panels.

Practical knowledge of STP operation and wastewater treatment processes.

Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures.

Ability to read basic electrical/control diagrams.

Good observation and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of workplace safety and PPE requirements.

Ability to maintain operational records and checklists.

Qualification

ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related technical trade.

Experience in STP/WTP operation and facility maintenance will be preferred.

Working Conditions

Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, with a rotational weekly off.

Must be comfortable working around machinery, wastewater treatment equipment, and utility areas.

Must follow all safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.

Equipment uptime and timely breakdown resolution.

Completion of preventive maintenance schedules.

Proper STP operation and treated-water quality.

Accurate maintenance and STP logbook records.

Reduction in equipment breakdowns and maintenance costs.
