position summary
the store in-charge is the operational lead for the storage facility, focusing heavily on inventory control, team supervision, and maintaining company operational standards. this role is critical for minimizing stock discrepancies, ensuring material availability, and upholding safety standards.
ii. key responsibilities
a. inventory and stock management
goods handling: oversee the receiving, inspection, and accurate documentation of all incoming materials against purchase orders (pos) or invoices.
organization & storage: ensure all items are systematically stored according to size, type, and temperature/safety requirements. implement and enforce fifo (first-in, first-out) principles.
stock control: conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventory counts. investigate and reconcile any discrepancies between physical stock and system records (erp/pos).
issuance: manage the timely and accurate issuance of materials to authorized personnel (., production floor, sales staff, or customers).
b. operations, compliance, and reporting
safety & security: enforce all relevant health, safety, and security protocols within the store area to prevent accidents, damage, or theft.
documentation: maintain comprehensive records and registers for all stock movements, transfers, and disposals for audit trail purposes.
reporting: generate periodic reports on key metrics, including inventory levels, slow-moving or obsolete stock (slob), and consumption rates, for management review.
system usage: ensure accurate and timely data entry for all stock transactions into the inventory management system.
c. team supervision
supervision: coordinate and supervise the daily tasks of store assistants, laborers, and material handlers.
training: provide basic training and orientation to new team members on standard operating procedures (sops) for inventory handling and system usage.;
