Job Summary

A Steel Fixer is responsible for cutting, bending, positioning, and securing steel reinforcement bars (rebar) and steel mesh used in concrete structures such as buildings, bridges, roads, and other construction projects. The role ensures reinforcement is installed according to engineering drawings, specifications, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret construction drawings, bar bending schedules, and reinforcement layouts.

Measure, cut, bend, and assemble steel reinforcement bars and mesh.

Position and fix reinforcement bars in foundations, columns, beams, slabs, walls, and other concrete structures.

Tie rebar using wire, clips, or mechanical fastening methods.

Ensure correct spacing, alignment, cover blocks, and placement as per project specifications.

Inspect installed reinforcement before concrete pouring.

Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other construction workers.

Operate hand tools, cutting machines, and bending equipment safely.

Maintain a clean and safe working area.

Follow all site safety regulations and company procedures.

Report material shortages, defects, or installation issues to the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

High school education or equivalent preferred.

ITI/Trade certification in construction-related fields is an advantage.

Ability to read reinforcement drawings and bar bending schedules.

Knowledge of construction methods and reinforcement practices.

Experience

Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a Steel Fixer in building, infrastructure, or industrial projects.

Experience with large-scale construction projects is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

Proficiency in rebar cutting, bending, and fixing.

Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.

Good physical fitness and manual dexterity.

Knowledge of construction safety standards.

Teamwork and communication skills.
