Job Title: Staff Nurse

Job Summary
The Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered nursing care in accordance with established clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and hospital policies. The role requires strong clinical judgment, technical nursing skills, and effective interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Patient Management
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including physical, psychological, and social evaluations.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans based on clinical findings.
Administer medications accurately via prescribed routes, adhering to the “Five Rights” of medication administration.
Monitor vital signs, clinical parameters, and patient responses to treatment, escalating concerns appropriately.
Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and rounds.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care, including wound care and pain management.
Technical & Procedural Skills
Operate and monitor medical equipment (., infusion pumps, monitors, oxygen delivery systems).
Perform nursing procedures such as IV cannulation, catheterization, specimen collection, and dressing changes.
Maintain infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic and sterile techniques.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of biomedical waste as per regulatory guidelines.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete nursing documentation in patient records (manual or EMR/EHR systems).
Follow hospital policies, clinical protocols, and national/international nursing standards.
Ensure compliance with patient safety goals, quality indicators, and accreditation requirements.
Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and incident reporting processes.
Patient & Family Education
Educate patients and caregivers on disease conditions, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions.
Promote health education, preventive care, and lifestyle modifications.
Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families when required.
Team Collaboration & Professional Conduct
Collaborate effectively with physicians, allied health professionals, and nursing colleagues.
Participate in handovers, case discussions, and multidisciplinary meetings.
Supervise and guide junior nursing staff, trainees, or nursing assistants as assigned.
Maintain professional ethics, confidentiality, and respectful patient care at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or
Bachelor of Science in Nursing ( Nursing)
