position summary
the staff nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care through safe clinical practices, timely nursing interventions, accurate documentation, and coordination with doctors and allied departments. the role ensures patient comfort, medication administration, and adherence to infection control and hospital protocols.
key responsibilities:-
1. patient care & nursing procedures
- provide bedside nursing care including monitoring vitals (bp, pulse, temperature, spo2).
- assist in patient admission, transfer, discharge & documentation.
- perform nursing procedures such as iv cannulation, catheterization, ryles tube insertion, wound dressing, suctioning, nebulization etc.
- manage critical patients under supervision in icu/hdu/emergency settings.
2. medication & treatment administration
- administer medications as per doctors orders iv/im/sc/oral.
- maintain drug charts, nursing notes, fluid balance charts and treatment records accurately.
- monitor patients' reactions to medications and report adverse effects immediately.
- ensure timely medication rounds & maintenance of high-risk drug protocols.
3. clinical monitoring & equipment handling
- operate medical equipment such as multipara monitors, infusion pumps, syringe pumps, oxygen delivery systems.
- assist in ventilator care, central line care, catheter care, drain management under guidance.
- maintain crash cart readiness and participate in code blue/code red situations.
4. infection control & safety
- follow hospital infection control policies & biomedical waste segregation (yellow/red/blue/white bags).
- maintain hand hygiene, ppe usage, sterile procedures, aseptic techniques.
- coordinate with housekeeping and infection control departments for isolation rooms.
5. patient education & communication
- educate patients and relatives regarding treatment, diet, medication schedules & discharge care.
- maintain polite, empathetic and respectful communication at all times.
- ensure patient comfort, privacy, dignity and quick response to call bells.
6. record keeping & reporting
- maintain nursing reports, intake-output charts, nurse notes, vitals monitoring sheets.
- report significant changes in patient condition to the doctor/nursing incharge promptly.
- participate in audits, rounds, handover and inter-shift reporting.

qualification & experience
- anm/gnm / . nursing (registered with nursing council).
