the senior accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. the ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, while reporting directly to a chartered accountant within the firm.
*responsibilities:*
* *financial reporting:*
* prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
* generate and interpret financial reports for management review.
* ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
* *general ledger management:*
* maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
* ensure accuracy of journal entries and supporting documentation.
* perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
* *tax compliance:*
* assist with the preparation and filing of tax returns (gst, income tax, etc.).
* ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
* stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
* *bank reconciliations:*
* perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of cash balances.
* investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
* *accounts payable/receivable:*
* oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.
* ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.
* monitor and manage outstanding receivables.
* *audit support:*
* assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
* ensure compliance with audit requirements.
* *tally management:*
* expertly utilize tally software for financial data entry, reporting, and analysis.
* ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data in tally.
* *team leadership/mentorship (if applicable):*
* provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff.
* review and approve work performed by junior staff.
