position summary:-
the resident medical officer is responsible for providing round-the-clock medical supervision, patient assessment, clinical decision support, and coordination with consultants and nursing staff to ensure quality care. the role requires timely intervention, monitoring of patient progress, emergency management, documentation, and support in inpatient clinical procedures.
key responsibilities:-
1. patient assessment & clinical management
- conduct initial assessment of patients admitted in wards, emergency, icu, hdu.
- monitor vital parameters, neurological status, oxygen requirements, fluid input-output.
- regular rounding for patient review and implementation of medical care plans.
- assist in evaluating diagnostic results & modifying management under consultant guidance.
2. medication & treatment administration
- prescribe and administer medications as per consultant orders.
- ensure timely management of iv fluids, antibiotics, inotropes, insulin infusions & other therapies.
- supervise medication charts, maintain high-risk drug protocol & prevent prescription errors.
- maintain accurate and updated case sheets, progress notes & treatment orders.
3. emergency & critical care handling
- provide immediate response to code blue, trauma cases, cardiac arrest, shock, respiratory distress.
- perform emergency procedures: basic life support (bls), airway management, cpr, nebulization, ryles tube insertion, catheterisation, iv/central line support as trained.
- assist in stabilization and preparation for critical transfers, icu shifting or surgical intervention.
- support casualty management for medico-legal cases as per hospital policy.
4. consultant coordination & clinical documentation
- coordinate with consulting physicians/surgeons for clinical updates & patient condition changes.
- maintain proper handover during shift changes ensuring continuity of care.
- inform relatives about patient status as per defined protocol & maintain professional communication.
- ensure medico-legal documentation, consent forms, discharge summaries validation with accuracy.
5. ot/procedure assistance (if assigned)
- assist anesthetist & surgeons in pre-operative evaluation, post-operative monitoring.
- monitor post-surgical vitals, drains, pain control, and recovery status.
- ensure sterility protocol and clinical safety practices in all procedure areas.

qualification & experience
- bhms/bams/mbbs.
- valid maharashtra medical council registration.
- experience in icu/emergency/general medicine preferred (freshers with training may apply).
- knowledge of bls/acls certification is an added advantage.
- comfortable with rotational duties & night shifts.
