the regional sales manager (rsm) is responsible for overseeing sales operations, guiding sales teams, and driving business growth across an assigned region. this role ensures effective implementation of company strategies, market expansion, and achievement of regional revenue targets.
key responsibilities
1. sales & revenue management
develop and execute regional sales strategies to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
monitor sales performance, analyze trends, and ensure continuous improvement.
identify new market opportunities and expand regional market share.
2. team leadership
lead, train, and motivate area sales managers and sales executives within the region.
conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and field visits.
ensure team productivity, discipline, and achievement of kpis.
3. business development
build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, channel partners, and key customers.
negotiate contracts, pricing, and promotional deals to support business growth.
4. market & competitor analysis
track regional competitor activities, pricing, and market trends.
provide actionable insights to management for strategic decisions.
5. operational efficiency
ensure proper stock availability, supply chain coordination, and timely order fulfillment.
monitor credit control, collections, and adherence to company policies.
6. reporting & compliance
prepare sales reports, forecasts, and region-wise performance dashboards.
ensure compliance with company guidelines, trade policies, and regulatory requirements.
skills & qualifications
bachelors degree in business, marketing, or related field (mba preferred).
510 years of experience in sales, with at least 24 years in a managerial or regional role.
strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
ability to manage large teams and work under pressure.
