Job Purpose:
To ensure the quality of incoming fabrics by conducting thorough inspections, identifying defects, maintaining quality records, and coordinating with mills/vendors and internal teams. The role involves regular factory and vendor visits to ensure compliance with quality standards and timely resolutions of fabric-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct fabric inspection
Check fabric against quality standards for GSM, shade, shrinkage, color fastness, weaving defects, dyeing issues, etc.
Record and report all findings with photographic evidence and documentation.
Coordinate with fabric suppliers for sample submission, approvals, and rectification of defects.
Follow up with mills to ensure adherence to technical specifications and timelines.
Reject and communicate non-conforming goods with proper documentation.
Regularly visit mills/factories to inspect bulk fabric in production or ready for dispatch.
Monitor in-process checks at vendors to prevent major defects in final deliveries.
Ensure fabric delivery timelines are being met as per production schedules.
Send fabric swatches for internal or external lab testing (., color fastness, pilling, dimensional stability).
Review lab reports and escalate deviations from standards.
Maintain records of all testing reports and approvals.
Maintain detailed inspection reports, quality logs, and fabric history.
Update MIS or ERP systems with inspection results and delivery status.
Highlight critical issues to the sourcing, merchandising, and production teams.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Willingness to travel for factory/mill visits.
Eye for detail and problem-solving approach.
Diploma/Degree in Textile Technology, Fabric Science, or related field.
13 years of experience in fabric quality inspection in a garment/textile company.
Familiarity with fabric suppliers and mills is a plus.
