core responsibilities and duties
production planning & strategy:
develop and implement production schedules, labor requirements, and process flow to optimize production rates and efficiency.
analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
set productivity targets and maintain strict quality control standards.
operational management:
oversee the daily operations of the production facility, ensuring all machinery and equipment are maintained and running efficiently.
manage the inventory of raw materials, components, and finished goods to prevent shortages or excesses.
ensure compliance with all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies.
quality control:
monitor the production processes and output to ensure products meet company and industry quality standards and specifications.
implement and manage quality assurance (qa) and quality control (qc) programs.
investigate production issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective actions.
team leadership & development:
manage, supervise, and mentor production staff, including setting performance objectives and conducting reviews.
coordinate training programs for new and existing employees on production processes, safety, and equipment operation.
foster a positive and productive work environment.
budget and resource management:
manage the production budget, controlling costs related to labor, materials, and overhead.
coordinate with procurement, logistics, and sales departments to ensure a smooth supply chain and delivery process.
required skills and qualifications
technical knowledge:
deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles, six sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
proficiency with manufacturing execution systems (mes) or enterprise resource planning (erp) software.
strong knowledge of industry-specific production machinery, tools, and equipment.
