We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead the sourcing and purchasing operations for our tipper trailer manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for acquiring high-quality raw materials, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring a seamless, cost-effective supply chain that supports uninterrupted production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing: Identify and onboard reliable suppliers for critical manufacturing components, including structural steel, hydraulic cylinders, axles, suspension systems, tires, and welding consumables.
Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national suppliers. Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, delivery times, and pricing.
Negotiation & Contracting: Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and credit limits with suppliers to optimize production costs without compromising on material quality.
Inventory Control: Collaborate closely with the production and warehouse teams to forecast material requirements, maintain optimal inventory levels, and prevent stockouts or overstocking.
Cost Optimization: Continuously analyze market trends for raw materials (especially steel) and implement cost-saving initiatives and alternative sourcing strategies.
Quality Assurance Compliance: Ensure all procured materials meet strict engineering specifications and industry safety standards for heavy commercial vehicles.
Process Improvement: Implement and optimize procurement workflows, purchase order tracking, and ERP systems to streamline daily operations.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 57 years of procurement experience in heavy manufacturing, automotive, or the commercial vehicle industry. Direct experience with tipper trailers or heavy machinery is highly preferred.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of steel grades, hydraulic systems, and heavy-duty automotive components.
Skills: Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Tools: Proficiency in inventory management software and modern ERP systems.
