Key Responsibilities
Process Simulation & Modeling: Using software to create digital twins of a process to predict how temperature, pressure, or flow rates will affect the final product.
P&ID and PFD Development: Creating Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) that serve as the master blueprints for the facility.
Equipment Selection: Specifying the technical requirements for pumps, heat exchangers, reactors, or conveyors and reviewing vendor technical bids.
Mass & Energy Balance: Conducting complex calculations to ensure that the amount of material and energy entering the system matches the output, identifying areas of leakage or inefficiency.
Safety & Hazard Analysis: Leading HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies to identify potential risks in the process design and implementing Fail-Safe mechanisms.
Continuous Improvement: Analyzing existing production lines to implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma improvements to reduce cycle times.
