Role Overview
The Mechanical Design Engineer Intern will work closely with the engineering team on the design, analysis, and development of motor and powertrain components. This role emphasizes hands-on engineering, combining CAD modeling, simulation, and prototype development in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of motor components and assemblies using 3D Modelling software.
Perform simulations and engineering analyses using ANSYS to validate and optimize designs for structural integrity, thermal performance, and efficiency
Support the design and development of axial flux motor systems and related powertrain components
Assist in prototyping, testing, and iterative design improvements based on real-world performance data
Participate in design reviews and contribute to engineering decisions with data-driven insights
Ensure designs comply with relevant safety, quality, and manufacturing standards
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, technicians, and manufacturing partners to resolve design challenges
Document design processes, test results, and technical findings
Stay updated with emerging technologies, materials, and tools in mechanical and motor design
Requirements
Proficiency in 3D CAD Modelling.
Working knowledge of ANSYS or similar simulation tools
Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals
Interest in electric vehicles, motor design, or powertrain systems
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced R&D environment
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to motor design (especially axial flux motors)
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and material selection
Basic understanding of thermal and structural analysis
