A Foundry Machine Shop Incharge oversees daily machining operations, managing staff, and optimizing production schedules to ensure cast components are machined to specifications. They are responsible for safety, equipment maintenance, and quality control, bridging the gap between foundry casting and final product delivery, often working with CNC machines and ensuring efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management: Oversee daily machine shop operations, including setup, programming, and operation of CNC/conventional machines to meet production schedules.

Quality Control: Ensure machined parts meet quality standards (dimensions, tolerances, finish) and reduce rework or scrap.

Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and assign tasks to machine operators, setters, and maintenance technicians.

Technical Optimization: Develop and implement improved machining processes and fixture designs to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Maintenance: Ensure proper maintenance of all machinery and tools, minimizing downtime.

Safety Compliance: Enforce safety regulations (., OSHA, COSHH) and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of metal machining processes, CNC programming, tooling, and technical drawings/blueprints.

Experience: Previous experience in a machine shop, preferably in a foundry environment, with supervisory experience.

Leadership: Ability to lead, train, and manage personnel.

Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills for machinery, tooling, and quality issues.

Education: Typically requires a degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, metallurgy, or a related field.
