• Wash, peel, cut and prepare vegetables, fruits and other ingredients.
• Assist chefs and cooks with basic food-preparation tasks.
• Measure ingredients and arrange supplies before service.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
• Clean and sanitise workstations, floors and storage areas.
• Store, label and rotate food items using FIFO procedures.
• Receive deliveries and check products for quality and quantity.
• Organise ingredients and supplies in refrigerators, freezers and storerooms.
• Dispose of food waste and other materials according to established procedures.
• Maintain proper hygiene and prevent cross-contamination.
• Refill ingredients, condiments and kitchen supplies during service.
• Assist with plating, packing and serving food when required.
• Report damaged equipment, spoiled food and stock shortages.
• Follow food-safety, fire-safety and workplace-safety procedures.
• Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
• Support other kitchen employees during busy service periods.
