key responsibilities and duties
the primary responsibilities of a junior accountant typically include:
transaction processing:
record daily financial transactions and ensure they are properly classified and entered into the general ledger.
prepare and post journal entries (., accruals, prepayments, fixed assets).
accounts management:
manage accounts payable (ap), including processing invoices and preparing payment runs for vendors.
manage accounts receivable (ar), including issuing invoices and tracking customer payments.
reconciliation & closing:
perform bank and credit card reconciliations to resolve discrepancies and ensure the accuracy of cash balances.
assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes.
reporting & compliance:
assist senior staff in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, such as balance sheets and income statements.
update financial data in databases and accounting software to ensure immediate availability and accuracy.
support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
assist with basic tax filings and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
administrative support:
process employee expense reports and assist with payroll documentation.
maintain and organize physical and electronic financial records and documents.
