An ITI Fitter is a skilled tradesperson responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical machinery and equipment. They read technical blueprints, use precision measuring instruments, and operate hand or power tools to fabricate and fit metal components to exact tolerances
Key Responsibilities
Reading Technical Drawings: Interpreting blueprints, schematics, and engineering diagrams to understand the exact specifications for components.
Assembly and Fitting: Cutting, shaping, and assembling metal parts using vices, files, saws, and grinders to fit them together precisely.
Precision Measurement: Checking dimensions and tolerances using precision instruments like micrometers, vernier calipers, and gauges.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Conducting routine machine inspections, lubricating moving parts, and dismantling/repairing broken equipment to minimize downtime.
