role overview
the senior manager – insurance (commercial lines) will lead backend operations for commercial line insurance products, ensuring seamless coordination between insurance companies, clients, and internal teams. this role requires thorough knowledge of general insurance processes, underwriting, strong operational management, and the ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders.
key responsibilities
1. commercial line operations:
• manage end-to-end backend processes for commercial insurance policies including fire, marine, liability, engineering, cyber and other corporate covers.
• handle rfq, policy issuance, endorsements, renewals with accuracy and timeliness.
• ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (irdai) and internal sops.
• prepare and maintain mis reports, dashboards, and trackers for commercial insurance portfolios.
2. coordination & stakeholder management:
• act as a key liaison between insure insight, insurance companies and clients.
• coordinate with insurers for policy negotiations, clarifications, claim intimation, and resolution.
• support client servicing teams in addressing policy-related queries and ensuring smooth communication.
3. general insurance operations:
• oversee backend operations across motor, health, personal accident, and travel insurance lines.
• monitor issuance of retail policies, endorsements, and renewals in line with client requirements.
• ensure high standards of customer experience by minimizing delays and errors in policy servicing.
4. process excellence & compliance:
• implement and refine operational workflows to improve efficiency and reduce turnaround time.
• maintain updated knowledge of insurance products, underwriting practices, and regulatory changes.
• drive adherence to compliance requirements, data accuracy, and audit readiness.
5. team leadership & development:
• lead and mentor the backend operations team to achieve business objectives.
• provide training on new products, processes, and regulatory updates.
• foster a culture of accountability, quality, and client-first approach within the team.
6. strategic contributions:
• support business development and client acquisition by providing operational insights and feasibility checks.
• contribute to the development of digital/automation tools to streamline insurance operations.
• assist management in risk assessment, portfolio analysis, and strategic planning.

• minimum 3–5 years of experience in general insurance operations, preferably in commercial lines.
• exposure to working with insurers, and corporate clients.
• certification (licentiate/associate from iii) will be an added advantage.
