- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to accurately machine components from steel and cast iron materials.
- Program, edit, and optimize CNC programs using Fanuc controls to achieve desired part dimensions and surface finishes.
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators) to verify dimensional accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
- Troubleshoot machining issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Adhere to 5S principles and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on the shop floor.
- Machine large components, ensuring proper handling, fixturing, and machining techniques are employed to maintain part integrity and accuracy.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize machining processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance overall productivity.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated proficiency in HMC machine operation and setup, including experience with 4-axis CNC machines.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Expertise in CNC programming using Fanuc controls, including the ability to write, edit, and optimize programs for complex machining operations.
- Hands-on experience with steel and cast iron machining, including knowledge of appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds.
- Adept at using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators) to perform accurate dimensional inspections.
- Proven ability to implement and maintain 5S principles in a shop floor environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues effectively.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, quality control personnel, and other team members.
