Required Skills
• Strong hands-on experience in industrial gearbox assembly and fitting.
• Good knowledge of gears, bearings, shafts, couplings, seals and mechanical components.
• Practical knowledge of gearbox dismantling, inspection, repair and reassembly.
• Ability to identify and rectify mechanical defects and alignment issues.
• Knowledge of precision measuring instruments and mechanical fitting tools.
• Ability to work independently and handle shop-floor activities.
• Strong understanding of industrial safety practices.
• Candidates from heavy engineering, industrial machinery, gear manufacturing, power transmission, automotive, pumps, compressors, material-handling equipment or other engineering manufacturing industries will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform assembly, fitting, dismantling and maintenance of industrial gearboxes.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings and technical specifications.
• Carry out accurate fitting of gears, shafts, bearings, bushes, couplings, seals and other gearbox components.
• Check gear alignment, backlash, clearances, shaft run-out and bearing seating as per specifications.
• Conduct inspection and measurement using vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, feeler gauges and other precision measuring instruments.
• Perform gearbox overhauling, troubleshooting and repair activities.
• Identify abnormal conditions such as noise, vibration, overheating, oil leakage and gear wear and take corrective action.
• Ensure proper lubrication, oil sealing and assembly of gearboxes.
• Carry out alignment and setting of gears and shafts to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
• Support testing and trial runs of assembled/repaired gearboxes and rectify issues identified during testing.
• Maintain proper housekeeping, safety standards and discipline within the shop floor.
