we are an agribusiness company operating in southwest nigeria and seeking an experienced agronomist to manage an organic plantain farm. the successful candidate must be a problem solver and self-starter that requires little guidance to thrive in a demanding farming environment. he must have meaningful prior experience and demonstrate tangible success in managing a large plantain farm.

essential responsibilities

? spearhead the implantation and expansion of the farm to 100ha capable of producing 3 large bunches per hole per twelve months

? organize the work to achieve high operating efficiency and mitigate the prevalence of crop diseases

? determine the short- and long-term equipment required to mechanize the operations

? deploy and manage an irrigation system and implement strategies to organically fertilize the crops

? devise and maintain monitoring reports to evaluate the performance at each phase of the farming process (land preparation, implantation, maintenance, etc.)

? lead the hiring of the workforce and identify high performers to promote within the ranks

? experiment with and recommend crops the company may consider adding to its portfolio

? write periodic progress reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.) detailing both the activities on the farm and the crops’ performance

experience requirements

? bachelors or advanced degree in agriculture or in a related field with distinction from a reputable academic institution

? minimum of 3 years of experience successfully managing a large-scale farm

? demonstrated track record of leadership, hard work and positive outcomes is preferred

? solid and verifiable references
