qualification & experience
bachelor’s degree / diploma in environmental science, occupational health & safety, or related field.
minimum 16+ years of experience in environment, health & safety within the pharmaceutical industry.
key responsibilities
1. legal compliance
ensure compliance with all statutory requirements related to environment, health & safety.
monitor pharmaceutical environmental parameters (etp inlet/outlet, air emission, etp sludge, ambient air quality, noise, employee health checkups).
manage environmental permits, sds (safety data sheets), and hazardous material compliance.
2. environmental management
implement and audit iso : environmental management system.
oversee waste management (hazardous & non-hazardous), recycling, air & water quality monitoring.
manage emission and effluent monitoring systems (etp, stp, air scrubbers).
3. occupational health & safety
implement iso / ohsas systems.
conduct risk assessments using hira, jsa, fmea.
promote behavior-based safety (bbs), conduct incident investigations & root cause analysis.
ensure compliance with loto, machine guarding, confined space safety standards.
4. emergency response & fire safety
manage fire safety systems (sprinklers, detectors, alarms, hydrants).
lead erp (emergency response planning) and conduct mock drills.
oversee hazardous material spill control and first responder training.
5. equipment & process safety
ensure machinery safety in ophthalmic pharma machinery & packaging lines.
lead process safety management (psm) including hazop studies.
oversee safety interlocks, automation controls, and fail-safe mechanisms.
6. training & auditing
design and deliver ehs training programs across the organization.
conduct internal audits (lead auditor certification in iso / preferred).
manage capa systems and non-conformance closure.
skills & competencies
strong knowledge of ehs regulations, risk assessment, and audit processes.
hands-on experience in pharma industry safety practices.
excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
proficiency in handling statutory inspections and liaising with regulatory authorities.
