job summary:
the dcs officer will be responsible for operating and monitoring the distributed control system (dcs) to ensure smooth and safe plant operations. the role requires a thorough understanding of process control, operational parameters, and emergency handling procedures to achieve production targets efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
key responsibilities:
-operate and monitor the yokogawa dcs system for daily production and process control.
-ensure smooth operation of circuits to meet company objectives and production targets.
-monitor and control process parameters such as flow rates, pressures, temperatures, and levels using dcs displays, graphics, and trend logs.
-identify process deviations and propose corrective actions in consultation with the circuit in-charge.
-execute and oversee start-up and shutdown activities, ensuring adherence to sops and safety protocols.
-handle emergency situations efficiently by implementing approved procedures and emergency response actions.
-make minor plant adjustments and immediately report significant faults to the shift in-charge with suggested remedial actions.
-coordinate with quality control (qc) to implement remedial measures as necessary.
-maintain operational data in logbooks and update records in erp/shared excel sheets.
-prepare and submit daily shift reports with accurate process data.
-complete routine equipment checklists and registers.
-ensure timely reporting of abnormalities in erp/shared excel and communicate with relevant teams.
-coordinate with instrumentation, engineering, and utilities (boiler, chilling, brine, scrubber, etc.) teams for troubleshooting.
-monitor and control temperature, level, and pressure in tank farms and day tanks of key materials.
-operate as per the alarm management system and review it regularly for necessary updates.
