Patient Preparation & Care

Explain CT scan procedures to patients and address concerns

Verify patient identity and obtain relevant medical history

Position patients correctly for accurate imaging

Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures

CT Scan Operation

Operate CT scanning equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images

Select appropriate scan protocols based on physician orders

Adjust technical parameters (slice thickness, contrast timing, exposure)

Contrast Administration

Prepare and administer contrast media when required

Monitor patients for allergic reactions or adverse effects

Follow contrast safety guidelines and emergency protocols

Image Quality & Evaluation

Review images for clarity, accuracy, and diagnostic value

Repeat scans when necessary while minimizing radiation exposure

Ensure images are properly labeled and stored

Radiation Safety

Adhere to radiation protection principles (ALARA)

Use shielding and dose optimization techniques

Monitor radiation exposure for patients and staff

Equipment Care & Maintenance

Perform routine equipment checks and quality control tests

Identify equipment malfunctions and report for repair

Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the CT suite

Documentation & Record Keeping

Maintain accurate patient records and scan details

Enter procedure data into PACS/RIS systems

Ensure confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations

Emergency & Critical Care Support

Assist with emergency imaging procedures

Recognize and respond to patient distress or medical emergencies

Provide basic life support when required

Collaboration & Communication

Work closely with radiologists, nurses, and physicians

Communicate scan results and technical details to radiologists

Coordinate scheduling and workflow efficiently

Compliance & Continuous Learning

Follow hospital policies, accreditation standards, and legal requirements

Stay updated with advancements in CT technology and protocols

Participate in continuing education and training programs
