Job Description/ Position: CNC Supervisor
Department: Production / Machine Shop
Role Summary:
The CNC Supervisor cum Kaizen Lead will be responsible for supervising CNC machine shop operations, ensuring production targets are met with high quality and efficiency, while also driving continuous improvement initiatives through Kaizen methodology. The role requires strong technical knowledge of CNC machining and leadership skills to mentor operators, optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
Key Responsibilities in CNC Supervision
Plan, schedule, and oversee daily CNC machining operations to meet production targets.
Monitor machine performance, utilization, and downtime; initiate corrective actions.
Ensure adherence to quality standards, process parameters, and safety protocols.
Guide and train operators on CNC programming, tool selection, and best practices.
Review and approve setup sheets, work instructions, and process documentation.
Coordinate with maintenance for preventive and breakdown maintenance of CNC machines.
Kaizen & Continuous Improvement
Lead Kaizen activities across the machine shop to eliminate waste, improve efficiency, and enhance workplace safety.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction, cycle time improvement, and productivity enhancement.
Facilitate 5S, TPM, and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
Encourage operator participation in idea generation and small improvements.
Track, document, and present Kaizen results to management.
Supervise a team of CNC operators, setters, and technicians.
Assign work, monitor progress, and evaluate performance.
Develop skill matrix and training plans for workforce upskilling.
Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, and Production Planning teams.
Team Leadership & Coordination
Skills
35 years of experience in CNC machining, with at least 23 years in a supervisory role.
Hands-on experience in CNC programming (Fanuc controls preferred).
Strong knowledge of tooling, fixtures, cutting parameters, and machine capabilities.
Good problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.
Ability to drive shop-floor discipline, teamwork, and continuous improvement culture.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
CNC machine utilization and OEE.
Production target achievement vs. plan.
Quality rejection / rework percentage.
Number of Kaizen ideas implemented, and savings achieved.
6S & TPM audit scores, Team skill improvement.
Qualification: BE with 5 years or DME with 8 years experience.
