A CCTV Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing video surveillance systems. They evaluate site security needs, run necessary cabling, connect cameras to power sources, and link hardware (like DVRs and NVRs) to security software and networks.
Core Responsibilities
Installation: Perform site surveys, mount cameras, and install cabling, power supplies, monitors, and recording equipment.
System Configuration: Set up network connections for remote viewing, configure IP addresses, and calibrate video feeds.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair hardware/software issues, faulty wiring, and connectivity dropouts.
Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, clean camera lenses, test backup batteries, and update firmware.
Client Training: Instruct end-users on how to operate security systems, access playback footage, and use mobile monitoring apps.
Compliance: Maintain detailed service logs and ensure installations adhere to safety and local building regulations
Key Skills & Requirements
Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of electronics, electrical wiring, IP networking (TCP/IP), and computer systems.
Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with various camera types (Bullet, Dome, PTZ), NVRs, DVRs, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology.
Physical Capability: Ability to work at heights, lift heavy equipment, and work in varied indoor/outdoor environments.
Attention to Detail: Excellent color vision (for wire termination) and spatial awareness for optimal camera placement
