Mechanical Assembly Operator - NPI & Engineering: Responsible for leading and supporting box build assembly processes including mechanical assembly, bonding, potting, and conformal coating operations in an EMS environment. The role also involves NPI (New Product Introduction) execution, engineering changes, process optimization, and production readiness for new and existing products.1. Box Build & Mechanical Assembly2. Key Responsibilities:* Handle tool room activities, including jigs, fixtures, dies, moulds and tooling development.* Prepare and review 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD/SolidWorks/Creo.* Plan and supervise CNC, VMC, milling, turning, grinding, EDM/Wire EDM operations.* Troubleshoot and maintain moulds, dies, jigs and fixtures.* Lead SPM assembly, installation and commissioning activities.* Understand mechanical, pneumatic and basic electrical systems used in SPMs.* Coordinate with design, production, purchase and maintenance teams.* Ensure dimensional accuracy, quality and timely completion of tooling/SPM projects.* Conduct assembly trials, debugging and machine performance validation.* Manage tool-room manpower, vendors and job-work activities.* Prepare BOM, tooling estimates, machining requirements and cost estimates.Required Skills:* Strong knowledge of tool room manufacturing and machining processes.* Practical experience in SPM design/assembly and automation.* Knowledge of pneumatics, sensors, motors, linear motion systems and PLC basics.* Good understanding of GD&T, fits & tolerances and material selection.* Problem-solving and team-handling skills.* Ability to read engineering drawings and independently handle projects from fabrication assembly trial commissioning.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLEThis role is in charge of the assembly line - putting together sheet metal and wired/mesh parts into a finished, powder-coated product, checking it for quality, repairing any defects, packing it, and making it ready for dispatch. The main focus of this role is production output. Quality checking and basic powder coating knowledge are secondary, supporting skills. 4-8 years of hands-on experience running or working on an assembly line in a sheet metal, metal fabrication, or wired product manufacturing unit. Experience with powder-coated product assembly is preferred, but not mandatory.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. ASSEMBLY & PRODUCTION (MAIN FOCUS) Run the daily assembly line - putting together sheet metal, powder-coated parts, and wired/mesh parts into the finished product. Use pneumatic tools to fit fasteners on sheet metal, powder-coated parts. Use clip guns (or similar tools) to assemble wired/mesh parts. Meet daily production targets on the assembly line, shift after shift. Decide the right number of workers needed on the line for the target - not more than needed. Track productivity and efficiency of the line every day, and fix issues that are slowing it down. Look after the fixtures and jigs used on the assembly line - keep them in working order, and flag repair or replacement needs. Suggest automation, fixtures, or process changes that can reduce manpower dependency and increase output.2. QUALITY (SECONDARY FOCUS) Check assembled products for quality defects before they move to packing. Repair or rework defective pieces so only good product is packed and dispatched. Keep an eye on powder coating quality and flag powder coating defects (basic knowledge is enough - this can be trained on the job). Report repeat quality problems so the root cause can be fixed, not just the symptom.3. PACKING & DISPATCH READINESS Pack finished goods correctly and get them staged and ready for dispatch on time.4. MANPOWER & COST Manage and guide assembly line workers - assign work, train them, and hold them accountable for output. Keep manpower cost on the line as low as possible while still hitting production targets. Train workers to handle more than one task, so the line does not depend on any single worker.
