The job description of a Mechanical Engineer/Piping Engineer working on a government civil project typically includes the following responsibilities and qualifications:Responsibilities:Design and oversee the installation of mechanical systems, including piping and HVAC systems.Develop and maintain project plans and schedules.Prepare and review project budgets and cost estimates.Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.Develop and review project specifications and technical documents.Conduct feasibility studies and design reviews.Perform engineering calculations and simulations.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mechanical systems and equipment.Conduct site inspections and oversee testing and commissioning of systems.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.At least 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering and piping design and installation.Proficiency in AutoCAD and other engineering software.Strong project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, such as ASME, ANSI, and API.Knowledge of project management methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall.Understanding of safety requirements and protocols related to mechanical systems and equipment.Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
