As an Accession Officer, you will play a vital role in managing and maintaining records related to the accession of specimens in a laboratory setting. Your primary responsibilities will include:- Receiving Specimens: You will be responsible for accurately receiving samples and ensuring they are labeled and logged according to established procedures.- Data Entry: Accurately input specimen data into the laboratory information management system. This involves checking for completeness and correcting any errors.- Tracking and Monitoring: Monitor the status of samples throughout the accessioning process to ensure timely processing and identify any potential issues that may arise.- Communication: Collaborate with laboratory staff, clinicians, and other departments to facilitate smooth and efficient specimen handling and to resolve any discrepancies.- Quality Control: Engage in quality assurance practices by following guidelines and protocols to maintain the integrity of the specimens and data.For this role, candidates should possess a Bachelors degree in Science (B.Sc.) and have a strong attention to detail. You should have good organizational skills and be able to manage multiple tasks effectively. Basic computer skills are essential, along with a willingness to learn laboratory information systems. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are also crucial for success in this position. A proactive attitude and a commitment to quality and accuracy in your work are expected.

Technical ResponsibilitiesAssist in fire assay, XRF testing, and sampling of gold and silver jewellery/articles.Perform sample preparation, melting, cupellation, parting, and weighing as per approved test methods.Ensure duplicate testing and repeat tests when results exceed specified limits.Maintain accuracy of weighing and calculations for fineness determination.Assist in verification of test data before reporting.Quality & ComplianceFollow BIS-approved procedures, SOPs, and Quality Manual requirements.Support Internal Audits, BIS audits, and surveillance audits.Assist in identifying Non-Conformities (NCs) and implementing Corrective / Preventive Actions (CA/PA).Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and security of client samples and data.Equipment & RecordsAssist in daily checks, in-service verification, and calibration status of balances, furnaces, XRF, and other equipment.Maintain accurate records for:SamplingFire assay & XRF testingEquipment logsCalibration & maintenanceEnsure proper identification and traceability of samples throughout testing
