Main Duties of a Fire TechnicianFire Fighting System MaintenanceFire hydrant and hose reel systemsFire pumps, jockey pumps and diesel pumpsSprinkler systemsFire extinguishersFire alarm and detection systemsFire suppression systemsInspection & TestingRegularly inspect fire equipment and installations.Test fire pumps and fire alarm systems.Check pressure, valves, pipes, hydrants and sprinklers.Identify faults and arrange repairs.Preventive MaintenanceFollow daily/weekly/monthly maintenance schedules.Lubricate and service pumps and mechanical equipment.Replace damaged or expired fire equipment.Emergency ResponseRespond quickly to fire alarms and emergencies.Operate fire-fighting equipment during incidents.Assist in evacuation and emergency response.Coordinate with the fire & safety/security team.DocumentationMaintain inspection and maintenance records.Record fire pump readings and equipment status.Maintain fire extinguisher/service records.Prepare reports for management and safety audits.Safety & ComplianceEnsure fire systems are always operational.Support fire drills and emergency preparedness.Follow applicable fire-safety procedures and statutory requirements. Typical QualificationITI/Diploma in Fire & Safety, Electrical, Mechanical or related trade.Experience in fire-fighting systems, fire pumps and fire alarm systems is preferred.Knowledge of basic electrical/mechanical troubleshooting.Physically fit and willing to work in shifts.
