Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse provides care to a neonate with a wide-range of ailments, from common neonatal disease conditions to life-threatening illnesses. NICU patients are usually unstable and require constant monitoring and interventions. NICU Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. Position Responsibilities: In addition to basic nursing care, carries responsibilities in collaboration with the Senior Nurse Executive-NICU which includes (but are not limited to): Daily activities: Provides culturally appropriate care to patient. Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. Takes handover from the outgoing staff based on the allotment of patients. Takes inventory of the area instruments and articles as per the responsibility allotted by the Lead Nurse specialist. Reports to the Lead Nurse Specialist/ Specialist or Senior Nurse Executive problem faced in caring and safety of the patients. Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, such as ventilators and other biomedical equipments used for the care of the patients. Takes responsibility in maintaining the equipments to the best of usage and reports to higher authority if breakdown happens. Prepares, administers and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments as per hospital policy (High risk High Alert /LASA medication, Narcotic Policy and Verbal order policy). Assists treating consultant during examination, treatment and procedures, which can include life-saving situations. Analyzes lab results and reports as required to the concerned authority for faster treatment. The duties and responsibilities of a gynaecology ward nurse are listed below:Providing patient care, counseling patients who are experiencing difficulties with their reproductive health.Arranging appointments with physicians and hospitals, responding to phone calls regarding patient admissions and discharges.Scheduling appointments for all aspects of the patients' care at the hospital or clinic where they work. Makes sure that other nurses and doctors understand what patients need from them in terms of care and treatment. Taking blood pressure readings, weighing patients and performing other vital signs.Administering cervical smear tests to women who have been screened.However, in some cases also administer breast checks and pelvic examination.Administering the appropriate dosage of medications to patients, at the proper time, is essential in maintaining their health and wellbeing.Observing the changes to care plans and sharing them with the patient and/or doctor are critical duties for a gynaecology ward nurse. Assess,plan, implement and evaluate care for assigned patientsStrictly adhere to standards of Practice for the OB and GYN Unit and manage all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.Participate in various activities to plan, assess and improve the quality of patient care.Care for patient and educate them on pre-operative and post-operative surgical cases.Assist in providing care and patient teaching for the post-partum patient.Assist gynaecologists in birth control-related procedures.Educate women regarding sexually transmitted diseases, birth control and pre-natal care.Monitor fetal heart tones, contractions, and assist mothers in labor with breathing exercises.Prepare women who need cesarean sections and support doctors with administering pain medication.Apply the mother and infants ID bands, weigh and measure the infant, for nursery care.
