Assembling and fitting: Fitters assemble and fit parts of machinery, equipment, and structures. They may also dismantle structures for transportation. Reading drawings: Fitters read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to determine the materials, methods, and settings needed for a job. Using tools: Fitters use hand and power tools to cut, shape, file, plane, bore, and drill metal. They may also use welding methods like MIG and TIG. Maintaining and repairing: Fitters perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment. They may also diagnose problems and report issues to a manager. Following safety regulations: Fitters ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Collaborating: Fitters may collaborate with other fitters on large-scale projects. Keeping records: Fitters keep accurate records of all maintenance work done
