Job Summary:An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft and its components. They ensure that aircraft meet safety standards and aviation regulations before flight operations. AMEs play a critical role in passenger safety and aircraft performance.Key Responsibilities1. Aircraft InspectionPerform routine and scheduled inspections of aircraft systems and components.Examine engines, landing gear, hydraulic systems, avionics, and airframes.Identify mechanical or technical faults and safety issues.2. Maintenance & RepairsCarry out preventive and corrective maintenance on aircraft.Repair or replace damaged aircraft parts and systems.Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and avionics problems.3. Testing & TroubleshootingConduct operational and functional tests after maintenance.Diagnose system failures using specialized tools and equipment.Ensure proper functioning of aircraft engines and instruments.4. Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate maintenance records and technical logs.Prepare inspection and repair reports.Ensure compliance with aviation authority regulations.5. Safety ComplianceFollow aviation safety standards and maintenance procedures.Ensure aircraft meets regulatory requirements before release.Adhere to workplace safety and quality standards.6. CoordinationWork closely with pilots, ground staff, and technical teams.Coordinate with airline operations and engineering departments.Communicate maintenance updates and technical findings.Required SkillsStrong technical and mechanical knowledge.Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.Attention to detail and accuracy.Knowledge of aircraft systems and aviation regulations.Ability to work under pressure and tight schedules.Good communication and teamwork skills.Educational QualificationDiploma or Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) or Aeronautical Engineering.Certification approved by aviation authorities (such as DGCA or relevant authority).Training from a recognized aviation institute.Experience RequirementsFresher AMEs may work as trainees or junior technicians.Experience in aircraft maintenance or airline engineering department preferred.Hands-on training or apprenticeship experience is an advantage.Work EnvironmentAirports, hangars, and maintenance workshops.Shift duties including nights, weekends, and holidays.Work may involve noise, heights, and outdoor conditions.
