This is not a role where someone hands you timestamps and a hook. You'll take a 1-2 hour webinar, class or student session and decide yourself what's worth cutting, what the hook should be, and how it should be treated for each platform.Primary skill is editing and creative production. Publishing and analytics are supporting capabilities, not the core of the job.What You'll Do:* Edit Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, long-form YouTube videos, testimonials and promos* Review long recordings independently and identify the clips with real social potential* Build strong opening hooks; cut pauses, repetition and weak sections to hold retention* Use captions, typography, motion graphics, music, sound design and B-roll where they actually help* Create thumbnails, covers and supporting social creatives* Repurpose one recording into multiple formats across Instagram and YouTube* Publish and schedule approved content, keeping the pipeline moving* Track views, watch time, retention, shares and saves - and let that data shape the next editTools:CapCut, Canva, Premiere Pro / After Effects / DaVinci Resolve / Final Cut (any professional suite), Photoshop or Illustrator. Comfort with AI tools - ChatGPT, Claude, AI transcription and captioning, AI image/video tools - is expected. YouTube Studio and Meta publishing tools.What We're Looking For:1. Strong hands-on editing with a clear grasp of pacing, storytelling and hooks2. Demonstrated short-form work made specifically for social, not repurposed showreel footage3. Practical understanding of how Instagram and YouTube distribute content4. Ability to work at volume without dropping quality, and to work without constant directionNot a Fit If You:* Need exact timestamps and a detailed brief for every Reel* Rely mostly on templates, effects and transitions* Are primarily a social media manager with basic Canva and editing skills* Are uncomfortable sitting with long footage to find content yourselfPortfolio & Assignment: A social-media video portfolio is mandatory - Reels, Shorts, talking-head and educational edits, long-to-short repurposing, thumbnails. A flashy showreel alone won't be enough.Shortlisted candidates get 20-30 minutes of unedited DVA footage with no guidance on which section to use, and will be asked to pick the three strongest clips, produce one finished Reel, suggest hooks, and explain the reasoning behind each pick.
