Job Purpose
To set up and operate Makino and Haas Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) for precision machining of components as per drawings, ensuring high accuracy, productivity, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Set and operate Makino / Haas VMC machines according to daily production schedules.
Load CNC programs, check tool paths, and make necessary offsets and minor program edits.
Select and set tools, work offsets, and fixtures as per job requirement.
Perform first-off inspection using Vernier, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, and Height Gauge.
Ensure all machined parts meet quality and tolerance requirements as per drawings.
Monitor cutting tool condition, optimize tool life, and change inserts when required.
Carry out basic troubleshooting of Makino and Haas machines.
Maintain machine cleanliness, follow 5S practices, and adhere to safety protocols.
Work in close coordination with programmers and quality inspectors.
Skills & Competencies
Hands-on experience in Makino and Haas VMC machines.
Familiarity with Fanuc / Haas CNC controls.
Strong in job setting, work offset adjustments, tool setting, and quality inspection.
Knowledge of feeds, speeds, tool paths, and machining practices.
Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T symbols.
Basic knowledge of CNC programming is an added advantage.
Qualification & Experience
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Tool & Die.
25 years of experience in VMC setting and operating, preferably on Makino and Haas machines.
