• research and determine the harmonized tariff schedule (hts) classification and /or eccn classification for finished goods, equipment, raw materials, parts, non-production items etc.
• assist and communicate with client and global team to resolve hts classification related queries.
• support the execution of hts classification, country of origin determination, valuation, free trade agreements, and other critical import trade compliance functions.
• interact with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure complete, accurate and compliant information is declared to customs authority and other government agencies to minimize delays and expedite release.
• work with internal/external stakeholders to obtain the information required to ensure accurate country of origin, classification, and preference are assigned to components.
• maintain organized records to support country of origin and trade preference qualification determination.
• assess the consistency of existing country of origin information across jurisdictions.
• develop, implement, and maintain corporate policies and procedures as they relate to trade preference strategies and initiatives.
requirements:
• minimum 1 – 5 years’ experience
• a background in international trade or master in business administration (mba)
• customs broker license and knowledge in customs clearance process or experience would be an advantage.
• fluency in english. other languages would be an asset.
• technical degree or equivalent experience would be an asset.
• experience with ms office applications, including proficiency with excel, powerpoint, outlook, etc.
• ability to read/analyse regulations and procedures.
• ability to write, speak, and present effectively and persuasively.
• working in a virtual global team.
