The Tool Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving manufacturing tools, dies, moulds, jigs, and fixtures used in production processes. The role involves creating detailed engineering drawings, optimizing tool performance, collaborating with production teams, and ensuring that tooling solutions meet quality, cost, and efficiency requirements.
** Major Responsibilities **
Design and develop tools, dies, moulds, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using CAD software.
Prepare detailed 2D drawings and 3D models in accordance with engineering standards.
Analyze product specifications and manufacturing requirements to develop efficient tooling solutions.
Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to improve manufacturing processes.
Select appropriate materials and components based on product and process requirements.
Perform design modifications and engineering changes to enhance tool performance and durability.
Ensure tooling designs comply with quality standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications.
Support prototype development, tool trials, and production validation activities.
Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Coordinate with suppliers and toolmakers during tool manufacturing and procurement.
Maintain technical documentation, design records, and revision histories.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing production costs and increasing productivity
